IAC Protection Plan Terms and Conditions

Effective August 15, 2026. Rev A.

1. What the Plan Is

The IAC Protection Plan (the "Plan") is an extended service plan sold by Industrial Automation Co. ("IAC") of Raleigh, North Carolina. It extends the standard 2-year IAC warranty on an eligible item purchased from IAC, for the additional number of years shown on your order, up to 10 years of total coverage from the original invoice date. The Plan is a service contract between IAC and the original commercial purchaser. It is not an insurance policy. Plans are intended for business and commercial use.

2. Coverage Term

Coverage begins on the original invoice date of the covered item and runs continuously through the end of the purchased term (2 included years plus the purchased extension). The Plan covers the specific item and serial number on the order line it was purchased with. One Plan covers one item; multi-quantity lines are covered per unit.

3. What Is Covered

Failure of the covered item to perform to the manufacturer's specifications under normal commercial use and proper installation, including electrical and component failures and normal wear-out of internal components such as electrolytic capacitors, cooling fans, relays, and display backlights.

If a covered item fails, IAC will, at its option:

  • Repair the item at IAC's repair facility, or
  • Replace it with the same or a functionally equivalent unit of like kind and quality (new or certified refurbished), or
  • Issue store credit per the schedule in Section 6 when neither repair nor replacement is practical.

IAC covers repair parts and labor, provides a prepaid inbound shipping label, and pays outbound ground shipping for the repaired or replacement unit within the continental United States.

4. Advance Replacement

When a suitable unit is in stock, IAC will ship the replacement before receiving your failed unit. The failed unit must be received by IAC within 15 business days of the replacement shipping, or the replacement will be invoiced at its regular price. A replacement unit assumes the remaining coverage term of the Plan. The Plan includes at most one full advance or outright replacement per term; later claims in the same term are handled by repair or store credit.

5. How to Make a Claim

Submit an RMA at industrialautomationco.com (Returns/RMA), or contact sales@iac.us.com or (877) 727-8757. Have your order number, part number, and serial number available. An RMA number is required before shipping anything to IAC. There is no fee or deductible for a covered claim.

6. Obsolescence

Industrial electronics can become unavailable. If a covered item fails and IAC cannot repair it or source a like or functionally equivalent unit within a commercially reasonable time, IAC will issue store credit based on the covered item's original purchase price:

  • Failure in coverage years 3 or 4: 70% credit
  • Years 5 or 6: 55% credit
  • Years 7 or 8: 40% credit
  • Years 9 or 10: 25% credit

7. What Is Not Covered

  • Damage from accident, abuse, misuse, dropping, or improper installation or wiring
  • Damage from external causes including fire, flood, lightning, power surges beyond rated specifications, water or chemical ingress, and other acts of nature
  • Operation outside the manufacturer's environmental or electrical specifications
  • Unauthorized modification, opened enclosures, or repair attempts by parties other than IAC
  • Consumable parts such as batteries, fuses, lamps, and filters, and cosmetic damage that does not affect function
  • Software, firmware, programming, and configuration
  • Items with removed or altered serial numbers
  • Lost profits, downtime, production losses, or any consequential damages (see Section 10)

Plans are not offered on Allen-Bradley or Rockwell Automation products, on items priced under $200, or on cables, accessories, and consumables.

8. Cancellation and Refunds

You may cancel within 30 days of purchase for a full refund of the Plan price, provided no claim has been made. After 30 days, you may cancel for a pro-rata refund of the Plan price for full unused coverage years, less the cost of any claims paid. IAC may cancel a Plan for fraud or material misrepresentation, with a pro-rata refund of unused coverage.

9. Transfer

The Plan transfers with the covered item to a new owner if you notify IAC in writing (sales@iac.us.com) with the order number, serial number, and the new owner's contact information.

10. Limitations of Liability

IAC's total liability under a Plan is limited to the remedies in Section 3 and will not exceed the original purchase price of the covered item. IAC is not liable for incidental or consequential damages, including downtime, lost production, lost profits, or the cost of substitute equipment, even if advised of the possibility. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, in which case these apply to the fullest extent permitted.

11. General

These terms are the entire agreement for the Plan and are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina. If any provision is unenforceable, the remainder stays in effect. IAC may revise these terms for future Plan purchases; the terms in effect on your purchase date govern your Plan. Plan availability and pricing may vary by item.
