The Siemens 6ES7231-5QD32-0XB0 is a SIMATIC S7-1200 SM 1231 TC analog input module with 4 thermocouple channels. Signal modules of the S7-1200 family mount to the right of the CPU and expand its onboard I/O over the integrated backplane bus connector; no separate rack or interconnect cabling is required.
The module accepts thermocouple sensors with in-module linearization and cold junction compensation, and is used for temperature measurement on furnaces, heat sealing equipment, and other thermal processes.
