The National Instruments PXI-5105 is a high-performance PXI oscilloscope designed for demanding industrial and research applications. This 3U PXI module features high-resolution digitization with 12-bit resolution across eight simultaneously sampled input channels, providing a maximum sampling rate of 60 MS/s and an analog bandwidth of up to 60 MHz. The PXI-5105 is available in three configurations with varying onboard memory sizes: 16 MB (part number 779685-01), 128 MB (part number 779685-02), and 512 MB (part number 779685-03). Utilizing the National Instruments Synchronization and Memory Core (SMC) technology, the PXI-5105 allows users to synchronize multiple modules for up to 136 phase-coherent channels within a single PXI chassis, facilitating the development of sophisticated mixed-signal test systems when paired with other digital and analog devices.
The oscilloscope operates seamlessly within a PXI or PXI Express Hybrid chassis and requires a compatible controller for functionality. It is compatible with NI-SCOPE driver software, which should be installed within an appropriate Application Development Environment such as LabVIEW or Microsoft Visual Studio. Users can conveniently configure the PXI-5105 using the NI Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX). The oscilloscope supports both pre-trigger and post-trigger acquisitions in single and multiple record modes, with an internal clock of 60 MHz or an external sample clock ranging from 4 to 65 MHz, which can be phase-locked to either a PXI 10 MHz reference or an external reference of 5 to 20 MHz. Other features include timestamp-triggered events with a sample clock resolution of 1 timebase period, up to 72 dBc spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) for 50Ω inputs, and a robust input impedance of either 50 Ω or 1 MΩ.
The PXI-5105 is compact, measuring 8.5 x 0.8 x 5.1 inches and weighing 16.7 oz (474 g), and is designed to operate within a temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C. Periodic calibration is recommended every two years to ensure optimal performance.
