The National Instruments PC/104-GPIB is a high-performance GPIB (General Purpose Interface Bus) Instrument Control Device compatible with IEEE 488.1 and IEEE 488.2 standards, designed specifically for industrial applications. This versatile plug-and-play module supports both 8-bit and 16-bit configurations, providing users with flexibility across various operating systems. Functionally identical to its predecessor, the AT-GPIB/TNT, the PC/104-GPIB ensures seamless software compatibility. The device comes with a 20-inch ribbon cable terminated with a standard panel-mount GPIB connector, enabling straightforward connections to up to 14 instruments via standard GPIB cables. For systems requiring more connections, a bus expander or extender is available from National Instruments. The PC/104-GPIB features an advanced Plug & Play-aware driver supporting 32-bit multitasking and offers 11 jumper-selectable interrupt lines along with three 16-bit DMA channels. While operating within standard configurations, it typically requires between 50 mA and 100 mA of power. Its data transfer capabilities reach over 1.5 Mbytes/s in interlocked handshake mode and exceed 1.6 Mbytes/s in non-interlocked handshake mode (HS488). Although the PC/104-GPIB has been designated obsolete by National Instruments, it remains available for purchase and repair through Apex Waves, ensuring continued support for users of this reliable automation solution.
