The Honeywell Spyder 8 IO is a VAV programmable module equipped with 4 UI, 2 AO, and 2 DO modules using the LON network. It integrates a built-in actuator, real-time clock, and Sylk Bus and employs the Echelon LonWorks network protocol. The advanced controls include a remote wall module interface and scheduler under its built-in zone control functions. This module utilizes a microbridge air flow sensor with a dual integral restrictor design, which is only applicable for its select models. Access to air flow sensor inputs is simplified for the user.
The included actuator mounts directly onto the VAV box damper shaft and can exert up to 44 lb-in torque, with a 90-degree stroke, and 90-second timing at 60Hz. All wiring connections are secured to removable terminal blocks to enhance the ease of controller installation and replacement. Both the controller housing and the actuator possess a UL plenum rating. This module is designed with a Free Topology Transceiver (FTT) facilitating high-speed, 78 kilobits communications network.
The Spyder 8 IO is versatile in operations. It operates as a standalone system, and also relies on LonWorks Bus network communications. It features a Sylk Bus compatible with Sylk-enabled sensors. Additionally, it can accommodate 110 controllers per Q7751A,B Router when configured as a repeater. This system is field configurable and programmable for control, input, and output functions through the use of the NIAGARA FRAMEWORK software. It supports user-defined network variables and has a function block engine that allows designers to program a wide spectrum of HVAC applications.
This module demonstrates its robustness with significant event notification, periodic update capability, and failure detect feature, triggering once network inputs are not detected within the predetermined time frame.
In terms of technical specifications, the Spyder 8 IO operates on a 24 VAC with an acceptable range of 20 to 30 VAC having an operating temperature range of 32F to 122F. It is UL/cUL (E87741) listed under UL916, ensuring optimal open energy management equipment with plenum rating that meets FCC Part 15, Subpart B, Class B requirements for radiated emissions. The communication network is facilitated through LonWorks, and it contains 8 IO ports. The power voltage displays range from 20 to 30 VAC and it is designed for damper shaft mounting.
