The Honeywell Spyder, an 8 IO controller, is a versatile Variable Air Volume (VAV) programmable device ready for multiple HVAC applications. Offering four Universal Inputs (UI), two Analog Outputs (AO), and two Digital Outputs (DO), it facilitates an inclusive control for HVAC systems.

The device's communication capabilities lie in the BACnet MS/TP protocol using an RS-485 connection, with a capacity of supporting up to 40 controllers per segment albeit a recommended 30 for optimum performance. The EIA-485 communications network sustains baud rates between 96 and 1152 kbits/s, ensuring high-speed data transmission.

Additional features comprise an in-built real-time clock and an explicit Sylk Bus crafted to align seamlessly with Sylk-enabled sensors. The inclusion of a function block engine provides flexibility to the application designer to program the controller according to specific HVAC contexts.

Notably, this controller has a built-in actuator and is also outfitted with zone control functions such as a remote wall module interface and a scheduler. An advanced Microbridge airflow sensor with dual integral restrictor design features easy user accessibility. With up to 44 lb-in torque, 90-degree stroke, and 90-second timing at a frequency of 60 Hz, the actuator presents an easy mounting system onto the VAV box damper shaft.

Using the programming software Niagara Tools, all wiring connections are simplified for installation and replacement with removable terminal blocks. The Spyder 8 IO controller finds extensive application in fan coils and VAV systems while offering a damper shaft mounting design.
