The Spyder 4 IO is a programmable, standalone unitary controller that consists of one User Interface, one Analog Output, and two Digital Outputs. It prominently interfaces through BACnet MS/TP with an RS-485 port. Its functionality is amplified by its inclusion of a real-time clock and Sylk Bus, an add-on that's specifically designed for use with Sylk-enabled sensors. Furthermore, the Spyder 4 IO can support up to 40 controllers per BACnet MS/TP segment but it's recommended for no more than 30.
The controller housing and actuator are both UL Plenum rated, and all connections are made to removable terminal blocks for simplified installation and replacement. In addition to the function block engine for custom program design, the controller boasts built-in zone control functions such as a remote wall module interface and a scheduler. It's also fitted with a Microbridge Airflow Sensor that features a dual integral restrictor design, and a user-friendly access to Airflow Sensor inputs.
Its actuator mounts directly onto a VAV box damper shaft and can deliver up to 44 lb-in torque, 90-degree stroke, and 90 seconds timing at 60 Hz. The Spyder 4 IO runs on a power voltage ranging from 20 to 30 VAC, and operates effectively within a temperature range of -40 F to 150 F. This device is UL/cUL listed under UL916 with Plenum rating and complies with the radiated emissions requirements of FCC Part 15, Subpart B, Class B.
Ideal applications for this controller include fan coils, heat pumps, and unit heaters, and it can conveniently be mounted on a DIN rail. In summary, the Honeywell Spyder 4 IO is a high-functioning and reliable choice for wide-ranging HVAC applications.
