The IC687BEM744 is a half-slot FIP Bus Controller tailored for use with the IC967 family of PLCs from GE Fanuc. This module features a compact, half-width faceplate that facilitates its installation in an integrated rack, making it an efficient choice for space-constrained environments. Functionally equivalent to the full-slot versions, the IC687BEM744 operates on a 2.5MHz WorldFIP network and supports TCP/IP communications along with generic messaging capabilities. It is important to note that this module is not compatible with the expansion racks of a 90-70 PLC system; however, a single 90-70 PLC can accommodate up to four FIP Bus controllers. The IC687BEM744 includes six status-indicating LEDs—representing Module OK, Bus Arbiter, Carrier Detect (Channels 1 and 2), and Transmit Enable (Channels 1 and 2)—which provide real-time operational feedback. It comes equipped with a 15-pin RS-485 serial connector, allowing straightforward PC connectivity for firmware upgrades, and features two 9-pin FIP Fieldbus connectors that enable redundant bus capabilities. Additionally, a restart button is provided for module restarts and software reloads.
