National Instruments SCXI-1162HV

The National Instruments SCXI-1162HV is a Digital I/O Module designed for industrial automation and control applications, providing robust signal processing capabilities. This module features 32 channels of optically isolated digital inputs, organized into eight banks of four input lines each, capable of detecting a wide range of AC and DC signals from digital logic levels up to a maximum of 240 VAC/VDC. The optical isolation technology effectively mitigates ground-loop issues and safeguards the host computer against harmful voltages, making the SCXI-1162HV ideal for both industrial and laboratory environments. The module can be used to monitor the status of power circuits, proximity switches, pushbutton switches, thermostats, and relays, ensuring safe interaction with field digital logic signals.

The SCXI-1162HV connects to field signals via screw terminals on the SCXI-1326 Terminal Block or through a DIN-rail mountable TBX-1326 Terminal Block using a SH48-48-B Shielded Cable. Featuring a 50-pin male ribbon-cable rear connector and a 48-pin DIN C male front connector, this module supports two modes of operation—multiplexer and parallel mode. Multiplexer mode allows for the reading of 32-bit digital patterns from the SCXI module using a serial data protocol with a maximum throughput of 1,000 words per second. In parallel mode, the module connects directly to digital I/O devices such as the DIO-24, DIO-32HS, DIO-96, and others.

Measuring 1.2 by 6.8 by 8.0 inches, the SCXI-1162HV is backed by a three-year warranty, and while it has been marked obsolete, it remains available for purchase and repair through Apex Waves.
