The National Instruments GPIB-1014D is a high-performance IEEE-488 GPIB interface specifically designed for integration with VMEbus systems. This interface facilitates seamless control of engineering, scientific, and medical instruments that adhere to the IEEE-488 standard. Conforming to the ANSI/IEEE 1014-1987 specifications, the GPIB-1014D features dual independent IEEE-488 interfaces that can function as a controller, listener, or talker, thanks to the implementation of two NEC µPD7210 GPIB transmission line control chips.

The GPIB-1014D supports comprehensive monitoring of all GPIB control lines for each interface, with a maximum response time influenced primarily by the listener's performance. The interface achieves a maximum data transfer rate of 500 kbytes/s, contingent on several factors, including VMEbus memory read timing and transfer mode selection. The device operates on a power requirement of +5 VDC and draws a maximum current of 2.9 A. Designed for versatility, the GPIB-1014D is suitable for multiprocessor applications and connects to the VMEbus backplane through the P1 and P2 connectors.
