The Hazardous Location Series HL28LV is a specialized air conditioning system engineered for Class I Division 1 and 2 hazardous locations, delivering reliable thermal management in environments where explosive atmospheres may be present. All models are UL Listed per standard 484 for Special Purpose Air Conditioners and UL Recognized per NFPA 496:2013 for Purged and Pressurized Enclosures. This unit meets NEC requirements for Class I Division 1, Groups A, B, C and D when paired with an approved Type X Purge System, and satisfies Class I Division 2, Groups A, B, C and D requirements with an approved Type Z Purge System. The T-4 temperature classification (275F/135C) ensures safe operation across demanding industrial applications, while CE compliance extends international marketability. The system maintains NEMA Type 12, 3R and 4/4X enclosure ratings, protecting connected equipment against dust, moisture, and corrosive elements.

The HL28LV employs closed-loop cooling architecture that completely isolates the enclosure's internal airflow from ambient conditions, preventing external contaminants and humidity from infiltrating the sensitive component compartment. A multi-layer corrugated aluminum filter securely mounted in an aluminum frame captures particulate matter at all air intake points, keeping internal components clean and extending equipment life. The optional stainless steel shell provides additional protection in corrosive or chemically aggressive environments where internal corrosion-resistant coatings may be required.

Built-in intelligence and reliability features enhance long-term performance and operational safety. A compressor short cycle protector prevents damage from frequent starts caused by low heat loads, power interruptions, or solar gain, thereby extending compressor service life significantly. Programmable thermostat and temperature alarm functions allow precise temperature control and early warning of thermal excursions. The system incorporates painted condenser and evaporator coils for durability, a pressure compensation terminal block for auxiliary pressure supply connectivity, and interior/exterior purge connections for system integration. Engineered for harsh industrial environments, the HL28LV is designed to withstand shock and vibration of 1G acceleration in two planes for a minimum of four hours per plane. The unit uses R134a refrigerant, an HFC formulation with zero ozone depleting potential.
