Description
The Fuji Electric DB15-4C is a dynamic braking resistor sized for 15 kW (20 HP) Fuji Electric variable frequency drives on 400V class supplies. It is the matching external braking resistor for FRENIC-MEGA (G2) and other FRENIC series drives, used together with the drive's built-in braking transistor or an external braking unit to absorb regenerative energy during deceleration.
When a VFD decelerates a motor, the motor acts as a generator and returns energy to the drive's DC bus. Without a braking resistor this regenerative energy raises the bus voltage and trips an overvoltage fault. The DB15-4C dissipates that energy as heat, enabling fast, repeatable, controlled deceleration in hoists, cranes, centrifuges, high-inertia fans and pumps, and winding applications. Install in a well-ventilated location; the resistor generates significant heat during braking cycles. Genuine Fuji Electric OEM accessory.
