The National Instruments UMI-7774 Universal Motion Interface is a versatile, standalone connectivity accessory designed for seamless integration with NI 73xx series motion controllers. This model supports up to four axes and is suitable for both laboratory and industrial applications. The UMI-7774 connects various servo drivers, stepper drivers, and digital feedback I/O, accommodating a wide range of actuators and motors across different power levels. Featuring a 68-pin motion I/O connector, the UMI-7774 simplifies field wiring with dedicated control and feedback connectors for each axis, enabling the connection of up to eight digital inputs and outputs through a separate interface cable. Enhanced safety is provided with a power interlock feature that disables the drive upon disconnection of the motion interface cable or shutdown of the host computer. Additionally, the device allows instant, global shutdown of all axes via global stop inputs and includes reverse polarity protection up to -30 V with a minimum pulse detection capability of 10 µs. The UMI-7774's front panel is equipped with all necessary interfaces, including four feedback and control connectors, analog input, global stop, and power connectors. With a maximum quadrature frequency of 20 MHz and a pulse rate of 100 KHz, this model meets demanding motion control requirements. The UMI-7774 is versatile in mounting options, allowing for rack, DIN rail, or panel installation. The unit measures 10.2 x 5 x 0.87 inches and weighs 2.5 pounds, with an operational temperature range of 0 to 55 °C.
