The National Instruments SCXI-1160 General-Purpose Relay Switch Module is a versatile solution designed for controlling medium-level signals in various applications, such as industrial process monitoring, production testing, and laboratory experimentation. Featuring 16 individual SPDT Form C electromechanical latching relays, this module boasts extremely low on-resistance and thermal offset, making it highly effective for switching and routing tasks. With a maximum switching rate of 50 operations per second, the SCXI-1160 supports a switching capacity of 2 A at 250 VRMS or 2 A at 30 VDC. This module is fully software programmable and operates seamlessly with NI MIO-16 Boards, as well as Lab-NB, Lab-PC, Lab-PC+, Lab-LC, PC-LPM-16, DIO-24, DIO-32F, and DIO-96 boards.
The SCXI-1160 achieves a relay operating time of 10 ms, with a minimal offset voltage of 3 µV, ensuring precise control and signal integrity. Multiple modules can be utilized within a single SCXI chassis, enabling the control and switching of thousands of signals concurrently. The module is compatible with the NI-SWITCH driver software, which integrates well with popular software development environments, such as LabVIEW and LabWindows/CVI. Additionally, the design incorporates five jumpers to facilitate various configurations, including pullup resistor connection and board linkage setup.
It should be noted that the SCXI-1160 has been marked obsolete by National Instruments; however, availability for purchase and repair will continue through Apex Waves.
