National Instruments PXI-8361

The National Instruments PXI-8361 is a PXI Remote Controller designed to extend the capabilities of PXI bus computers through a multi-system interface. Occupying a single PXI controller slot, this module adheres to the PXI Hardware Specification Rev 2.1 and forms part of the MXI-Express x1 Series. It utilizes a cable-based PCI Express x1 link, facilitating control of various components within a PXI chassis using laptops, workstations, or desktop computers. The PXI-8361 enables users to achieve physical separation between the automation and measurement systems and the host controller, allowing for flexible system configuration.

Constructed on PCI Express technology, the PXI-8361 includes a PCIe-to-PCI bridge for seamless expansion of the PCI bus to other segments. It provides a cabled PCI Express link that supports dual-simplex communication through a differentially driven low-voltage signal pair, capable of transmitting data at rates up to 2.5 Gigabits per second in both directions simultaneously. The module measures 10.0 × 16.0 cm and weighs approximately 0.14 kg. It supports the MXI-Express x1 Copper cable, with a maximum length of 7 meters, making it suitable for diverse application scenarios. For enhanced connectivity, additional PXI-8361 units can be daisy-chained using multiple PCI or PCI Express slots in the host machine.
