National Instruments PXI-8320

The National Instruments PXI-8320 (Part number: 777573-01) is a 32-bit, 3U style CompactPCI compatible circuit board, designed as a component of the MXI-2 Series. It serves to connect a PXI or CompactPCI-based PC to the MXIbus, functioning effectively as the MXIbus System Controller. The PXI-8320 supports the integration of up to 16 MB of locally available DRAM, which can be utilized for MXIbus and VXI/VMEbus communication or designated for dedicated data support. This module is equipped with an onboard EEPROM, facilitating the storage of default register values upon power-on. The EEPROM contains two sections: a factory configuration portion and a user configuration segment, allowing for customization while maintaining a factory backup for default settings.

As the first or last device in an MXIbus daisy-chain, proper termination is critical, and the PXI-8320 provides convenient resistor networks in single inline packages (SIPs) for this purpose. This feature permits users to easily configure or remove termination resistors based on the specific application setup. Although the PXI-8320 has been declared obsolete, its availability for purchase and repair remains assured through Apex Waves, ensuring continued support for existing systems.

The PXI-8320 operates within a temperature range of 0° to 55°C and can be stored in conditions ranging from –40°C to 85°C.
