National Instruments PXI-8115

The National Instruments PXI-8115 is a high-performance Dual-Core Embedded Controller designed for PXI applications, compatible with PXI chassis such as the NI PXI-1042. This 3U-sized module is equipped with an Intel® Core™ i5 2510E dual-core processor operating at 2.50 GHz. It provides versatile I/O options including two DisplayPort video outputs, a parallel port, six high-speed USB 2.0 ports, a reset button, two Gigabit Ethernet ports, one RS-232 serial port, and a PCI-based GPIB controller. The PXI-8115 supports single-channel DDR3 SO-DIMM memory, allowing for upgrades with options of 2 GB, 4 GB, or 8 GB RAM, ensuring flexibility for various application needs.

For software compatibility, the controller works seamlessly with LabVIEW, Measurement Studio, LabWindows/CVI, and NI-VISA, including support for NI-DAQmx, which facilitates integration with data acquisition hardware. Users can connect monitors to the controller to view startup messages (like MAC and IP addresses), provided they have the necessary software drivers installed. Additionally, the PXI-8115 features an ExpressCard/34 slot for expansion, with certain hot-swappable capabilities depending on the module and drivers.

The controller incorporates multiple external connectors: a 9-pin DSUB for RS-232, two RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet ports, a 36-pin champ parallel port, and a 25-pin Micro D GPIB connector. With a compact footprint measuring 3.2 x 5.1 x 8.5 inches and a weight of 1.32 kg, the PXI-8115 operates within a standard temperature range of 5 °C to 50 °C, with an extended option of 0 °C to 55 °C. The PXI-8115 is currently under maintenance status, but it remains available for purchase and support through Apex Waves.
