National Instruments PXI-8104

The National Instruments PXI-8104 is a robust PXI controller designed for high-performance applications, featuring an Intel® Celeron® M 440 processor operating at 1.86 GHz. This modular PC accommodates standard I/O capabilities and seamlessly integrates with compatible PXI chassis, such as the NI PXI-1042, delivering a compact and rugged computing solution. The PXI-8104 is equipped with 512 MB of Dual-Channel DDR2 RAM, a 1,024 KB L2 cache, and a 60 GB SATA hard drive, ensuring efficient data processing. Standard I/O ports include one DVI-I video port, one parallel port, one RS-232 serial port, one Gigabit Ethernet port, and four Hi-Speed USB 2.0 ports, along with a PXI trigger and a reset button. This device maintains a 3U form factor, weighing approximately 0.94 kg (2.1 lb.), and requires one system and three controller expansion slots for deployment. The controller operates within a temperature range of 5 to 50 °C, with an extended option up to 55 °C.

Included with the controller is National Instruments Factory Installation Services, which provides pre-configuration of essential software applications, including functionality for arbitrary waveform generation, digitization, and digital multimeter operations. The PXI-8104 is compatible with the NI-DAQmx driver software and works seamlessly with various software packages such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, and Measurement Studio. Although the manufacturer has classified the PXI-8104 as obsolete, it remains available for purchase and repairs through Apex Waves.
