The National Instruments PXI-7831 is a highly versatile Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Device, part of the R Series, designed for applications that require precise control and timing. This intelligent device incorporates an FPGA-based system controller for customizable triggering and timing functions tailored to specific requirements. The PXI-7831 boasts eight 16-bit analog input channels, capable of sampling data at rates up to 200 kS/s, with a conversion time of just 4 μs. It operates effectively with input signals ranging up to +10 V, while the terminals can withstand voltage levels of up to +42 V; however, for optimal performance, it is advised to maintain working voltages below +12 V. In addition, the module features eight 16-bit analog outputs that provide updates at a maximum rate of 1 MS/s with an update time of 1 μs.
Equipped with 96 digital terminals, the PXI-7831 can be configured flexibly as I/O, counters/timers, or custom logic functions. The onboard Virtex-II V1000 FPGA, with 720 kbits of RAM, allows for comprehensive programmability through the LabVIEW FPGA module. The PXI-7831 also supports signal conditioning and I/O expansion by interfacing with the NI-9151. Although the PXI-7831 has been designated obsolete by National Instruments, it remains available for purchase and repair through Apex Waves.
