Description

The National Instruments PXI-5900 (Part Number: 780166-01) is a high-performance differential amplifier designed specifically for use with PXI oscilloscope modules, including the PXI-5922. This compact 3U PXI module features two differential input channels that support GND, AC, and DC coupling, along with a software-selectable input impedance of 50 Ω ±2%. The PXI-5900 is equipped with BNC input and SMB output connectors, facilitating seamless integration into various test and measurement systems. It provides an analog input capability with 0.25 ±0.2% vertical gain, a zero input offset error of 500 μV, maintaining 1 dB passband flatness, and achieving a common-mode rejection ratio of 70 dB at 60 Hz. The amplifier boasts a slew rate of 100 V/μs, referencing a balanced differential input, ensuring rapid signal processing.

When paired with the NI PXI-5922, the PXI-5900 accommodates a differential input voltage range of ±20 V (40 V peak-to-peak) and a single-ended output voltage range of ±5 V (10 V peak-to-peak), along with a common-mode input voltage range of ±10 V. Input protection for both 1 MΩ and 50 Ω impedance can withstand ±120 V and 14 Vrms, respectively, with peak voltages remaining below 20 V. Optimized for ease of use, the PXI-5900 is compatible with the NI-SCOPE 3.5.1 IVI-compliant driver, which enables comprehensive control, configuration, and calibration. Additionally, the NI Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) software, included on the NI-SCOPE DVD, provides user-friendly configuration and testing tools.

Measuring 21.6 cm x 2.0 cm x 13.0 cm and weighing approximately 173 grams (6.1 oz), the PXI-5900 is an efficient choice for demanding applications. It requires about 15 minutes for a complete warm-up. A detailed user manual and maintenance manual are available for download to support users in maximizing the performance of this differential amplifier.
