The National Instruments PXI-5422 is a high-performance waveform generator designed for versatile signal generation in test and measurement applications. Incorporating self-calibration capabilities, the PXI-5422 adjusts the gain and counterbalance of its fundamental and direct analog paths by utilizing a locally available A/D converter (ADC) to verify output voltage. Users can easily perform self-calibration by verifying DC Gain and Offset Accuracy and adapting the Analog Output systems. This model is available in four configurations based on onboard memory: 8 MB (part number 779087-01), 32 MB (part number 779087-02), 256 MB (part number 779087-03), and 512 MB (part number 779087-04). The PXI-5422 boasts a maximum bandwidth of 80 MHz and an update rate of 200 MS/s, ensuring precise and rapid waveform generation.
For control and programming, the PXI-5422 operates with the NI-FGEN driver software, which includes the essential FGEN Soft Front Panel, available on the NI-FGEN DVD that installs automatically upon insertion. Users developing custom applications can utilize development environments such as LabVIEW or LabWindows/CVI, while configuration is facilitated through the Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) tool. The generator features five I/O connectors: CH 0, CLK IN (SMB jack), PFI 0 (SMB jack), PFI 1 (SMB jack), and DIGITAL DATA & CONTROL connectors (68-pin VHDCI female receptacle). It accepts an external PLL Reference Clock for phase-locking its internal Sample Time-base Clock and supports triggering from various sources for synchronized waveform generation. The PXI-5422 will continue to be available for purchase and repair through Apex Waves, even after its last order date from National Instruments on December 28, 2023.
