National Instruments PXI-2532

The National Instruments PXI-2532 is a 3U PXI Matrix Switch Module designed to provide extensive 512-crosspoint matrix switching capability within a single slot. Offering exceptional density, this module supports various configurations, including a 1-wire 16 × 32 matrix, 1-wire 4 × 128 matrix, and 2-wire 16 × 16 matrix setups, among others. The PXI-2532 maximizes versatility with a maximum switching power of 10 W and accommodates a carry current of 0.5 A per channel. It delivers bandwidths of ≥30 MHz in 1-wire configurations and ≥25 MHz in 2-wire configurations, facilitating high-speed testing and signal routing. Trigger inputs can be received through PXI trigger lines 0–7, with a typical response time of 150 ns, while digital filtering can allow for faster trigger acceptance.

This switch module employs high-performance reed relays characterized by a release time of 0.25 ms and an impressive mechanical relay life of 1 × 10^9 cycles. When integrated into a PXI chassis, it has a simultaneous drive limit of 40 relays, which can be extended to 64 relays with a PXI Express chassis. The PXI-2532’s dimensions are 21.6 × 2.0 × 13.0 cm, weighing 1 lb. It operates at a power consumption of 10 W at 5 V in a PXI chassis, and 15 W at 12 V in a PXI Express configuration. The module includes two 160-position Samtec BTE-EM I/O connectors, with the contact material made from Rhodium. With a recommended operating temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C, and a storage temperature range of -20 °C to 70 °C, the PXI-2532 is built for robust application environments. Although declared obsolete, the PXI-2532 remains available for purchase and repair through Apex Waves.
