The National Instruments PXI-2188 Audio Power Amplifier is an essential tool for audio test and measurement applications, offering two input channels and two output channels to enhance performance in testing environments. With a total power output of 8W and a 5X gain, the PXI-2188 is optimized for seamless integration with PXI Oscilloscopes and PXI Vector Signal Analyzers, as well as other compatible RF instruments, thereby enhancing capabilities for spectrum regulation, radio monitoring, interference detection, and speaker testing. This amplifier is specifically engineered for sound and vibration analysis, ensuring accurate measurements through support for large dynamic range transducers, such as accelerometers and microphones.

The PXI-2188 features software-configurable AC/DC coupling, antialiasing filters, and Integrated Electronics Piezoelectric (IEPE) conditioning, enabling precise data collection under varied conditions. Its compatibility with the LabVIEW Sound and Vibration Toolkit allows users to leverage a suite of analytical tools, including power spectrum, sweeping sine, and octave analysis virtual instruments. Additionally, the toolkit facilitates compliance with evolving IEC standards by offering extensive support for frequency analysis, transient analysis, audio and distortion measurements, and frequency response measurements, along with over 50 readily available LabVIEW examples for efficient application development.

Designed for large channel count applications, the PXI-2188 utilizes the PXI platform’s advanced timing and synchronization features to provide synchronized measurements across multiple modules. It incorporates a range of synchronization mechanisms, including a slot-to-slot local bus, a 100 MHz differential system clock, a dedicated 10 MHz system reference clock, and various trigger buses. NI-TClk technology further enhances multi-instrument response to triggers with sub-nanosecond skew, ensuring robust timing and synchronization capabilities.

The PXI-2188 is rated for a wide operating temperature range of -40 to 85 °C and supports storage at similar temperatures. Its operational humidity range extends from 10 to 90% RH, while it can be stored in environments with 5 to 95% RH. With a pollution degree of 2, this amplifier is suitable for use at altitudes up to 2,000 meters, emphasizing its reliability and low environmental impact in industrial applications.
