The National Instruments PXI-1408 is an advanced IMAQ device designed for capturing and processing video signals in industrial automation and control applications. This module supports dual input sources via a BNC connector and a 25-pin DSUB port, operating in two modes: referenced single-ended (RSE) and differential (DIFF) input. In RSE mode, utilizing the BNC input for VIDEO0 connects through a single analog input line, with the negative input tied to analog ground. Conversely, when using the DSUB port for VIDEO0 in DIFF mode, it employs two analog input signals to enhance video multiplexer interactions.
Equipped with an 8-bit flash ADC, the PXI-1408 converts video signals into digital formats, complemented by four video signal multiplexers and programmable gain and offset features. Utilizing a PXI interface ensures high-speed data transfer, while DMA controls facilitate efficient communication between input/output memory FIFO buffers and the PCI bus. The device also incorporates non-volatile and static RAM for initializing registers during start-up and programming DMA controllers. A versatile trigger system enables four external triggers and RTSI bus triggers, along with optional internal or external synchronization signals (CSYNC, HSYNC, VSYNC, and PCLK).
The PXI-1408 supports four monochrome video inputs with a standard impedance of 75 Ohms, accommodating formats such as RS-170/NTSC and CCIR/PAL with variable scan capabilities. The compact design has dimensions of 3.9 x 6.3 inches and weighs 0.38 pounds. A warranty of 2 to 3 years is included, along with accessible user and maintenance manuals available for download.
