National Instruments PXI-1002

The National Instruments PXI-1002 is a versatile PXI chassis designed to accommodate both 3U CompactPCI and 3U PXI modules, making it suitable for a variety of automation and measurement applications. This general-purpose chassis features four slots, including three peripheral slots and one controller slot, along with three additional controller expansion slots positioned adjacent to the controller. The PXI-1002 operates within an input voltage range of 90 to 135 VAC or 180 to 265 VAC, with an input frequency of 47 to 63 Hz, providing a maximum usable output power of 170 W.

Equipped with an integrated backplane, the PXI-1002 supports all trigger signals and high-precision synchronization defined by PXI specifications. It features a 10 MHz reference clock for tight synchronization of system modules, and supports module-to-module local buses in conjunction with the star trigger bus. The chassis is designed for efficient cooling, utilizing two fans that generate a combined airflow of 120 cfm while maintaining a total cooling capacity of 300 W.

Reliably engineered, the PXI-1002 offers an impressive lifespan with a mean time between failures of 115,000 hours in AC mode and 79,000 hours in AC/DC mode. It also supports installation in a standard 19-inch rack with an optional rack-mount kit. This chassis measures 8.4 x 10.1 x 7.5 inches and weighs 9.5 pounds. It operates effectively within a temperature range of 0 to 50 °C and a humidity range of 10 to 90% (non-condensing). It complies with various electrical safety standards including UL 3111-1 and IEC 1010-1. Although the PXI-1002 has been classified as obsolete by National Instruments, it remains available for purchase and repair through Apex Waves.
