National Instruments PCI-7830R

The National Instruments PCI-7830R is a high-performance multifaceted Digital Reconfigurable I/O Device from the R Series, designed to support a wide range of industrial and research applications. Featuring a Virtex-II FPGA with 1 million gates, this device provides highly customizable I/O operations and onboard processing capabilities. It is equipped with four 16-bit analog inputs sampling at up to 200 kHz with an input range exceeding ±10 V, and four 16-bit analog outputs with update rates of up to 1 MHz, also spanning over ±10 V. The PCI-7830R includes 56 digital lines and three DMA channels, allowing users to configure these lines for counters, inputs, outputs, or custom logic with rates reaching up to 40 MHz.

User configuration of both analog and digital functionalities is facilitated through the National Instruments LabVIEW FPGA module and graphical block diagrams, enabling immediate control of all digital I/O signals in hardware. Furthermore, each analog input channel has a dedicated analog-to-digital converter (ADC), which enhances flexibility with independent triggering and timing operations, and supports advanced features like multi-rate sampling. These capabilities make the PCI-7830R suitable for applications such as analog control, rapid prototyping, sensor simulation, and digital protocol emulation.

The device incorporates two 68-pin female high-density VHDCI I/O connectors and provides an embedded block RAM of 720 kbits. With dimensions of 6.7 x 4.3 inches and a weight of 0.25 lb, it operates within a temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C, and can be stored at temperatures ranging from -20 °C to 70 °C. The PCI-7830R is built to withstand industrial environments with a non-operating vibration rating of 2.4 grms and an operating rating of 0.3 grms across a frequency range of 5 to 500 Hz.
