National Instruments PCI-6624

The National Instruments PCI-6624 is a versatile Counter/Timer Device designed to meet a range of industrial needs. Featuring eight independent counters, each equipped with three isolated inputs and a single isolated output, this device supports various functionalities such as event counting, frequency measurement, and pulse train generation. Typical applications include the generation of retriggerable pulses, dual-signal edge division measurement, continuous buffered event counting, and ongoing buffered pulse train measurements. To optimize bus performance, a reduction in the number of devices generating bus cycles is recommended. Direct Memory Access (DMA) is employed by the NI-DAQmx driver by default for faster data acquisition relative to interrupt-driven transfers. Additionally, the PCI-6624 is equipped with an oven-controlled crystal oscillator (OCXO) providing a highly stable 10 MHz clock, which can serve as a gate or source for the counters.

With physical dimensions of 6.9 x 4.2 inches, the PCI-6624 operates effectively within a temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C and can be stored at temperatures ranging from -20 °C to 70 °C. Programming options include compatibility with software environments such as LabVIEW and LabWindows/CVI, and the device is supported by NI-DAQmx version 7.1 or higher.
