National Instruments PCI-6259

The National Instruments PCI-6259 is a high-performance multifunction data acquisition (DAQ) device designed to meet a wide range of measurement requirements. This 16-bit M Series device features the advanced NI-STC 2 system controller, ensuring optimal performance and data accuracy backed by NI-MCal calibration technology. The PCI-6259 provides 32 single-ended or 16 differential analog input channels, with software-selectable configurations. The device achieves a maximum sampling rate of 1.25 MS/s in single-channel mode and 1.0 MS/s in multi-channel mode, with an input range of +0.1 V to +10 V and an input impedance exceeding 10 GΩ when powered on, reducing to 820 Ω when off. The device exhibits low noise characteristics and a crosstalk level of -75 dB.

Additionally, the PCI-6259 includes four 16-bit analog output channels capable of data transfer rates of 2.86 MS/s, with a timing resolution of 50 ns and an output overdrive current of 20 mA. The device utilizes FIFO buffers for efficient input and output operations and comes equipped with 48 digital I/O channels. Two 32-bit counters/timers operate at 80 MHz, and a frequency generator, providing fixed frequencies of 100 kHz and 10 MHz, facilitates versatile timing applications. The PCI-6259 connects via dual 68-pin VHDCI connectors and requires a power supply of +5 V, +3.3 V, and +12 V at specified current ratings. It is compatible with NI-DAQmx driver software and requires installation prior to integration with preferred application development environments, including LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, C/C++, C#, or Visual Basic .NET.
