National Instruments PCI-5411

The National Instruments PCI-5411 is a high-speed arbitrary waveform generator designed to meet the demands of advanced signal generation applications. Utilizing a Direct Digital Synthesis (DDS) method, the PCI-5411 enables precise and versatile waveform creation, with a maximum frequency output of 16 MHz for TTL signals and 1 MHz for square, ramp, and triangle waveforms. It features a single DC-coupled 12-bit analog output channel with a sampling rate of up to 40 MS/s. The device offers selectable output impedance options of 50 Ω for nominal output and 75 Ω for high impedance, producing voltage outputs of either +5V or +10V depending on the configuration.

In addition, the PCI-5411 supports real-time system integration through RTSI and can be synchronized with external clocks using a Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) method. It is capable of generating both frequency modulation (FM) and amplitude modulation (AM) waveforms, with AM achieved using a straightforward amplitude modulation equation. Users can control the PCI-5411 via built-in software, such as VirtualBench-FG or VirtualBench-ARB, or through the NI-FGEN driver software, which is compatible with various application development environments including LabVIEW, Visual Basic, and C/C++.
