The National Instruments PCI-1405 Image Acquisition Board (Part Number: 778838-01) is engineered for use in industrial and scientific applications, supporting a variety of analog video cameras to capture real-time images and store them in onboard frame memory. This versatile image acquisition device allows for direct transport of images to system memory, enabling users to swiftly configure and start image acquisition. The PCI-1405 is bundled with the NI Vision Acquisition Software and NI Vision Builder, which facilitate application development in environments such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, and Measurement Studio, alongside the NI-IMAQ driver software for ease of control without the need for low-level register programming.

Supporting both monochrome and color cameras, the PCI-1405 provides enhanced image processing capabilities, including partial image capture with programmable regions of interest (ROI), which can be configured using MAX or the NI-IMAQ tools. Equipped with three independent onboard direct memory access (DMA) controllers, the PCI-1405 efficiently manages data transfer between its onboard SDRAM memory and the PCI bus, supporting scatter-gather DMA for flexible memory configuration. Acquisition can be initiated using frame/field selection, trigger control, or software commands, allowing users to choose their preferred method.
