National Instruments PCI-1200

The National Instruments PCI-1200 is a multifunction data acquisition device designed for PCI bus computers, suitable for a variety of industrial automation and data collection applications. It features eight analog input channels, including eight single-ended, eight pseudodifferential, and four differential channels, all utilizing a 12-bit successive-approximation ADC that delivers a maximum sampling rate of 100 kS/s with a resolution of 1 in 4,096. The device includes two 12-bit digital-to-analog converters (DACs) which can be configured for unipolar (0-10 V) or bipolar (±5 V) output, providing an update rate between 20 S/s and 1 kS/s, with a voltage resolution of 2.44 mV.

Protection features include overvoltage safeguards—±35 V during operation, ±25 V when off for analog inputs, and ±0.5 V for digital I/O. The input impedance is exceptionally high at 100 GΩ when powered, dropping to 4.7 kΩ in powered-off or overload conditions, and it maintains a common-mode rejection ratio (CMRR) of 70 dB from DC to 60 Hz. To enhance measurement accuracy, the PCI-1200 employs self-calibrating circuitry stored in an on-board EEPROM, accommodating user modifications along with factory calibration constants.

Power specifications indicate the PCI-1200 consumes 425 mA at +5 VDC, with output power at the I/O connector ranging from +4.65 to +5.25 V, protected by a 1 A fuse. The dimensions of the PCI-1200 are 6.9 x 4.2 inches, and it has a weight of 1.7 pounds.
