Description

The National Instruments NI-9232 is a comprehensive C Series Sound and Vibration Input Module designed for dynamic signal acquisition. This module features software-selectable AC/DC coupling and IEPE signal conditioning, with excitation options of 0 mA or 4 mA, effectively accommodating a variety of sensors, including integrated electronic piezoelectric (IEPE) types, non-IEPE sensors, and smart TEDS sensors (IEEE 1451.4 TEDS Class I). The NI-9232 provides simultaneous sampling across three differential analog input channels at a rate of up to 102.4 kS/s per channel, with a typical input voltage range of ±31.5 V. It is available with either BNC or screw-terminal connectivity, and the screw-terminal model includes three removable two-terminal connectors for easy access to the input channels. Notably, the NI-9232 ensures high fidelity in signal representation through advanced analog and digital filtering techniques, while overvoltage protection is rated at ±45 V per channel.

The module is equipped with a 13.1072 MHz internal master timebase, which can either operate independently or be synchronized with an external timebase. It also supports continuous channel-to-earth ground isolation rated at 60 VDC and is tested for surge voltages up to 1,000 Vrms, ensuring robust performance in challenging environments. With an operating temperature range of -40°C to 70°C and a storage temperature range of -40°C to 85°C, the NI-9232 is designed to endure harsh conditions, including a capability to withstand random vibration up to 5 grms and sinusoidal vibration up to 5 g across a frequency range of 10 Hz to 500 Hz. Weighing 5.0 oz for the screw-terminal version and 5.6 oz for the BNC version, the NI-9232 efficaciously combines versatility and reliability for sound and vibration measurement applications.
