The National Instruments NI-9229 is a high-performance C Series Voltage Input Module designed for versatile differential analog input applications. This 4-channel module features a ±60 V input range and achieves a maximum sample rate of 50 kS/s per channel, offering 24-bit resolution for accurate data acquisition. Its innovative design includes channel-to-channel isolation, which safeguards both the module and the device under test (DUT) from voltage surges while minimizing measurement errors associated with ground loops through a floating front end.

The NI-9229 is available in two configurations: the screw terminal version (Part Number: 779785-01) which provides 250 Vrms channel-to-channel isolation, and the BNC version (Part Number: 780180-01) with 60 VDC channel-to-channel isolation. A conformal coated variant (Part Number: 779785-02) is also available. Both configurations support CompactDAQ and CompactRIO hardware platforms and are compatible with the LabVIEW Professional Development System, LabVIEW FPGA Module, and LabVIEW Real-Time Module.

To ensure precise signal representation, the NI-9229 employs advanced digital and analog filtering along with a Delta-Sigma, 24-bit ADC. The screw terminal model consumes a maximum of 740 mW in active mode, while the BNC model has a maximum consumption of 800 mW. The module operates effectively within a temperature range of -40 °C to 70 °C, with a storage range of -40 °C to 85 °C. In typical measurement conditions, a calibrated NI-9229 demonstrates a gain error of ±0.03% and an offset error of ±0.008%.

With a weight of 147 grams (5.2 ounces) for the screw terminal version and 170 grams (6.0 ounces) for the BNC version, the NI-9229 combines robust construction with reliable performance, making it an essential component for industrial automation and control applications.
