Description

The National Instruments NI-9219 is a versatile C Series Universal Analog Input Module designed for multipurpose testing within any NI CompactDAQ or CompactRIO chassis. Users can easily transfer the module between platforms without requiring modifications. The NI-9219 is available in two variants: part number 779781-02 features conformal coating for enhanced protection, while part number 785994-01 does not. This module enables the measurement of various sensor signals, including strain gages, RTDs, thermocouples, and load cells, across four independently selectable channels, allowing for different measurement types on each channel. The module supports measurement ranges of up to ±60 V for voltage and ±25 mA for current, and it features spring terminal front connectors with 250 Vrms channel-to-channel isolation. It achieves a maximum sample rate of 100 samples per second for each channel. The NI-9219 provides specific signal conditioning for various sensors and signal types and operates within a temperature range of -40 °C to 70 °C to accommodate diverse application and environmental requirements. It is compatible with the NI 9972 Backshell Connector Kit and requires NI-DAQmx driver software for operation. Following software installation, users can integrate the module with multiple application development environments, such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, C/C++, C#, or Visual Basic .NET. The module features four 24-bit analog-to-digital converters, which allow for simultaneous sampling of all channels, and can supply an excitation current for input modes that require it, adapting the signal conditioning according to the measurement type. The NI-9219 calculates measured resistance based on voltage readings across its HI and LO terminals, while also sourcing excitation current from the EX+ and EX- terminals depending on load resistance.
