Description

The National Instruments 783986-01 RF Power Sensor, also known as the USB-5684, is engineered for precise power measurements across a frequency spectrum ranging from 10 MHz to 18 GHz. This true RMS power sensor excels in delivering accurate average power readings for various signal formats, including single-tone, multitone, and wideband digital waveforms. Its compact design is ideal for mobile and automated testing environments, ensuring versatility in diverse RF testing applications.

The sensor accommodates a wide dynamic range, with input power levels from -60 dBm to +20 dBm and a typical channel bandwidth of 50 kHz, divided into distinct measurement segments: +4 dBm to +20 dBm, -16 dBm to +4 dBm, and -60 dBm to -16 dBm. Featuring a low input voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR), the 783986-01 minimizes signal reflection, thereby enhancing measurement precision. Additionally, it supports both hardware and software triggering options, enabling accurate synchronization with other equipment, while software triggering modes, such as Scope and Slot, facilitate the analysis of burst and multislot signals relevant to communication protocols like WiMAX, LTE, GSM, and EDGE.

This power sensor demonstrates high measurement accuracy with uncertainties as low as 0.03 dB, a performance level that is maintained across operational temperatures between 0 °C and 50 °C. The device is capable of both continuous and time-slotted measurements, with rapid measurement capabilities exceeding 10,000 readings per second in buffered mode. Weighing only 397 g and measuring 110 mm x 45 mm x 25.6 mm (excluding connectors), the 783986-01 easily integrates with systems via USB 2.0, enhancing the efficiency of your test setups. Designed for resilience, it operates effectively at altitudes up to 4,600 meters and withstands shocks of up to 30 g peak, having been rigorously tested for compliance with industry standards in various operating and storage conditions.
