The National Instruments 782430-01 is a 4-channel PXI Source Measure Unit (SMU) designed for high-pin-count applications, also referred to as the PXIe-4142. This versatile instrument offers 4-quadrant operation, allowing it to both source and sink current across four quadrants effectively. Each of the four channels incorporates integrated remote (4-wire) sensing, which enhances measurement accuracy by compensating for lead resistance. The device provides a DC voltage range of ±24 V, with multiple source and sink current ranges, including 10 μA, 100 μA, 1 mA, 10 mA, and 150 mA.

The remote sensing feature enhances voltage accuracy by adding 0.1% of the low (LO) lead drop while improving current accuracy by 0.03% of the range per volt of high (HI) and LO lead drop, accommodating up to 1 V drop per lead. The module supports stable operation with an isolation voltage of 60 VDC from channel to earth ground, as validated by a dielectric withstand test. It allows a maximum measurement rate of 600,000 samples per second per channel and a source update rate of 100,000 updates per second for sequence lengths under 300 steps. The 782430-01 supports a variety of input and output trigger types for complex test sequencing and synchronization with additional instruments.
