Description

The National Instruments 778572-44 (PXI-2544) is a high-performance 8x1 PXI RF Multiplexer Switch Module designed for efficient RF signal routing. This solid-state module provides eight channels with a single bank and connects seamlessly to RF devices via its front-mounted SMA connectors, streamlining setup and operation. Engineered with FET switch technology, the module boasts an impressive mechanical relay lifespan of 1 × 10^8 cycles and an electrical relay life of up to 2.5 × 10^6 cycles, particularly at lower voltages. The device features a standard relay operate time of 1 ms and a maximum time of 3.3 ms, enabling it to simultaneously drive up to 90 relays. Input triggers can be sourced from PXI trigger lines 0-7 or the front panel, with a minimum pulse width of 150 ns, while output triggers are also directed to the same lines or the front panel, supporting programmable pulse widths from 1 µs to 62 µs at 3.3 V TTL.

The compact design of the 778572-44, measuring 21.6 cm × 2.0 cm × 13.0 cm and weighing just 538 g, includes nine SMA jacks for input/output connections and two SMB jacks for triggers. The module operates at a characteristic impedance of 50 Ω with AC coupling and supports a minimum input frequency of 10 MHz, with a maximum safe DC input voltage of ±8 V. The RF performance specifications are outstanding, displaying insertion losses of less than 4.5 dB at frequencies up to 2.4 GHz, less than 6.3 dB at 6 GHz, and less than 7.2 dB at 6.6 GHz. Furthermore, the voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) remains below 1.9 over most frequencies, with channel-to-channel isolation exceeding 77 dB at 2.4 GHz, minimizing cross-talk.

Designed for reliability and safety, the 778572-44 operates within a temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C and can be stored from -20 °C to 70 °C. It withstands relative humidity levels between 5% to 85% and complies with various safety and EMC standards, including IEC 61010-1, EN 61010-1, UL 61010-1, and CSA C22.2 No. 61010-1. This RF multiplexer switch module is intended for indoor use and can handle operational shocks of up to 30 g peak and vibrations of 0.3 g, ensuring long-term performance in demanding environments.
