Description
The National Instruments 778572-42, also known as the PXI-2542, is a high-performance PXI RF Relay Module optimized for routing RF signals in production testing environments. This 2x1 multiplexer terminated switch unit utilizes a solid-state relay design that offers an unlimited mechanical lifetime and rapid switching capabilities, ensuring reliable operation in demanding applications. The module features front-mounted SMA connectors, facilitating seamless integration with RF devices while its termination on all COM lines and channels minimizes signal reflections and protects connected instruments.
With a minimum input frequency of 10 MHz and a characteristic impedance of 50 Ω, the module is AC coupled and can safely handle a DC input voltage of up to ±8V. It supports a maximum continuous RF power level of +30 dBm while powered on, and +20 dBm when powered off. The insertion loss is exceptionally low, at <3.7 dB up to 2.4 GHz, <4.8 dB up to 6 GHz, and <6.1 dB at 6.6 GHz, with a flatness of <0.15 dB per 200 MHz and <0.50 dB per 1 GHz up to 5 GHz, ensuring optimal RF performance. The voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) is <1.6 for frequencies up to 2.4 GHz, and the channel-to-common isolation exceeds 78 dB in the same range.
The module boasts a maximum switch operating time of 121 µs, defined as the time from a trigger input falling to 10% until the output reaches 90% of its final value. It accepts input triggers from PXI trigger lines <0...7> with a minimum pulse width of 150 ns and supports software-selectable output pulse widths ranging from 1 µs to 62 µs. The 778572-42 is compact, measuring 21.6 cm x 2.0 cm x 13.0 cm (8.5 in. x 0.8 in. x 5.1 in.) and weighing 553 g (19.5 oz.). It operates effectively in environments with ambient temperatures from 0 °C to 55 °C and relative humidity levels between 10% and 90%. This module adheres to several international safety standards, including IEC 61010-1, EN 61010-1, UL 61010-1, and CSA C22.2 No. 61010-1, ensuring its reliability and safety in a variety of applications.
