The Hazardous Location Series HL56LV is a Class 1 Division 1 and 2 air conditioning system engineered specifically for explosive and hazardous environments where electrical equipment must be protected from ignitable atmospheres. All models are UL Listed per Standard 484 for Special Purpose Air Conditioners and UL Recognized per NFPA 496: 2013 for Purged and Pressurized Enclosures. The system meets NEC Class I Division 1 requirements for Groups A, B, C, and D hazardous locations when used with an approved Type X Purge System, and satisfies Class I Division 2 requirements with an approved Type Z Purge System. With a T-4 temperature classification rated to 275F/135C, the unit is CE compliant and suitable for the most demanding industrial applications.
This air conditioning system employs a closed-loop cooling design that completely isolates the enclosure interior airflow from ambient conditions, ensuring that cool, dehumidified air reaches sensitive electrical components without contamination from external air or water sources. A compressor short cycle protector prevents damage from frequent restarts caused by fluctuating heat loads or power interruptions, significantly extending compressor life--a critical safeguard in installations subject to solar gain or anticipated future equipment additions. Multi-layer corrugated aluminum filters with sturdy one-piece frames are standard and prevent internal contamination; replacement filters are readily available online. The system maintains NEMA Type 12, 3R, and 4/4X enclosure ratings per UL50 standards, with painted condenser and evaporator coils and optional stainless steel shells for corrosive environments. Internal corrosion protection is standard on NFPA 4X models, featuring air-cured coatings on refrigeration system brazed joints that withstand 1000 hours of salt spray testing per ASTM B 117.
All models feature programmable thermostats and temperature alarms for precise climate control and early warning of thermal deviations, pressure compensation terminal blocks for auxiliary pressure supply, and shock and vibration resistance rated for a minimum of 4 hours per plane at 1G acceleration in two different planes. The HL56LV uses R410a refrigerant with zero ozone depleting potential, meeting modern environmental standards. Interior and exterior purge connections are provided for seamless integration with purge systems, and the comprehensive design ensures reliable operation in the harshest hazardous location applications.
