The Honeywell Spyder, with a 19 Input and Output (IO) configuration, is a Variable Air Volume (VAV), programmable control system suitable for industrial automation operations. Predominantly, it features six Universal Inputs (UI), four Digital Inputs (DI), three Analog Outputs (AO), and six Digital Outputs (DO), all engineered under the LON network protocol developed by Echelon LonWorks.
The system is equipped with a built-in actuator, real-time clock, and Sylk bus. Incorporating inherent zone control functions, such as, but not limited to, a remote wall module interface and a scheduler, it enhances usability and automation. Specific models (PVL0000AS, PVL4022AS, PVL4024NS, PVL6436AS, and PVL6438NS) flaunt a microbridge air flow sensor with an innovative dual integral restrictor design.
One of the key attributes of this controller is its user-friendly access to air flow sensor inputs. Certain models (PVL0000AS, PVL4022AS, and PVL6436AS) can mount directly onto VAV box damper shafts and deliver up to a robust 44 lb-in (5 Nm) torque with a 90-degree stroke and 90-second timing at 60 Hz. For the facilitation of installation and replacement, all wiring connections are constructed through exclusive removable terminal blocks.
The UL Plenum-rated system houses a free topology transceiver that enriches the communications network with high-speed 78 Kilobit data transfer. While it is fully capable of stand-alone operation, it further supports the LonWorks bus network communications for system flexibility. Interoperability with Sylk-enabled sensors is guaranteed through the integrated Sylk bus.
As an affirmation of its reliability and adaptability, the Spyder is capable of managing 117 controllers per Q7751A,B Router when configured as a repeater. Through the utilization of the Niagara Framework software, it is field-configurable and programmable for control, input, and output functions. Advanced features include user-defined network variables, a function block engine that empowers a wide array of HVAC applications, and an efficient notification system for significant events and potential input failures.
The Spyder operates on a 24 VAC power supply within a valid range of 20 to 30 VAC, with an operating temperature range of 32 F to 122 F. The system has been granted UL/cUL (E87741) approval under UL916, in compliance with plenum ratings, FCC Part 15, Subpart B, Class B (Radiated Emissions) requirements. It is programmed through the integration of Niagara Tools software and mounts directly on damper shafts for easy setup and operation.
