The Honeywell Discharge Air Temperature Controller is a sophisticated component, specifically crafted for usage in Variable Air Volume (VAV) cooling systems. Its primary function is to maintain an average discharge air temperature by tactfully modulating an economizer, while also executing sequencing stages of mechanical cooling. This particular model, belonging to the W7100 family control system, has been sized for 2 heat and 4 cool applications with staged on/off output type.

Furthermore, the versatility of this controller makes it quite adaptable. This device can be applied to electric makeup air and other systems that require discharge air control of multistage heating or cooling. The staging capacity of this particular model (W7100A, C) can be extended to six stages with the integration of a W7101A satellite sequencer.

One of the defining features of this controller is its intelligent response to power interruptions. When power gets disturbed, the system enters a cycle where all stages are turned off. Once power is restored, the economizer is first modulated open (if the enthalpy is suitable), after which the stages of mechanical cooling are sequenced on. In an event where the enthalpy is unsuitable for economizer operation, the first stage of cooling or heating is activated within five minutes.

The controller also incorporates a reset signal that originates from either a space sensor or outdoor air sensor. As for technical specifications, this component operates optimally within a power range of 20 to 30 VAC, under the operating conditions of 40°F to 90°F (4°C to 32°C).
