The IC694BEM341 RX3i FIP is a specialized Bus Controller Module within the GE Fanuc RX3i series, designed to facilitate communication between PACSystems RX3i controllers and Genius I/O serial bus devices. This module not only interfaces with Genius blocks but also supports connectivity to other PLCs equipped with Genius Bus Controllers, VersaMax I/O, Field Control I/O Stations, multiple hosts, remote drops, and Genius handheld monitors, making it a versatile component for complex automation systems. The IC694BEM341 enables the exchange of up to 128 bytes of data with each device on the Genius I/O bus, while also providing automatic fault and alarm reporting, and diagnostic message storage, which can be accessed through the CPU and displayed in the fault table via programming software. Supporting all Genius datagrams, this bus controller repetitively broadcasts all global data and can accommodate up to eight Genius bus controllers in the RX3i system. Advanced diagnostic capabilities allow the bus controller to be configured at data rates of 153.5 Kbaud (standard/extended), 76.8 Kbaud, or 38.4 Kbaud. The module utilizes a daisy-chained bus cable configuration with a single twisted pair and shield or Twinax, while also offering compatibility with fiber optic cable modems. The maximum number of connected devices is limited to 32, or 16 if operating at 38.4 Kbaud. The technical specifications include a module type designated as FIP Bus Controller (2.5MHz), a single slot design for backplane support, a maximum current consumption of 1.2 Amps, and dual communication ports featuring 9-pin male D connectors, alongside one RS-485 connection. The module is equipped with six status LEDs for operational monitoring.
