The IC694ALG221 is a high-performance Analog Current Input Module designed by GE Fanuc for use within the RX3i PacSystem. This module features four input channels that can be configured to two distinct ranges: 4 to 20 mA (default) or 0 to 20 mA, facilitated by dedicated range jumpers for channel pairs. Each channel is capable of a conversion speed of 0.5 milliseconds, resulting in a total update rate of 2 milliseconds for the entire module. The IC694ALG221 also offers exceptional input protection withstanding up to 200 V common-mode operation, ensuring reliable performance even under challenging conditions.

To enhance system integrity, the module utilizes optical isolation to protect against external noise, effectively decoupling the field wiring from the backplane. It can be positioned within any I/O slot of the RX3i system; however, the power source configuration varies depending on whether the module is installed in the universal or expansion backplane. In the universal backplane, an external 24VDC power source is required, while in the expansion backplane, power is supplied directly from the backplane. The module's operational status is easily monitored via the LED indicator, which illuminates when the power supply is active.

For optimal operation and to minimize noise and capacitive issues, it is recommended that ground connections be wired using high-quality twisted, shielded instrumentation cable, with shields grounded to either the COM or GND terminal.
