The GE Fanuc IC693CMM302, also known as the Enhanced Genius Communications Module (GCM+), is designed to facilitate automatic global data communication between any Series 90-30 PLC and up to 31 additional devices over a Genius bus. This intelligent module can be installed in various baseplates, including expansion and remote baseplates; however, optimal performance is achieved when installed in the CPU baseplate. The device's sweep impact time is influenced by the specific PLC model and the type of baseplate in use. It is important to note that if a standard GCM module is already integrated into a system, the installation of a GCM+ module will not be permitted. Nevertheless, multiple GCM+ modules can coexist within a single Series 90-30 PLC configuration, allowing for the potential exchange of global data with as many as 93 Genius devices across three separate GCM+ installations. The IC693CMM302 also enables data monitoring for PCs and industrial computers, as well as peer-to-peer communications among connected devices. The module features LED indicators that provide real-time status updates; a steady OK LED signals normal operation, while the COM LED intermittently blinks to indicate bus errors and turns off completely in the event of a bus failure.
