The IC693ALG391 is a sophisticated 2-Channel Analog Current Output module designed for use with the Series 90-30 Programmable Logic Controller. This module features two output channels, each capable of converting 12 bits of binary data into a linear analog output ranging from 0 to 20 mA, with a resolution of 12 bits excluding the sign bit. During the scanning process, both channels are simultaneously updated, and the module processes data provided via the %AQ register, where 13 bits are converted to sign magnitude by the PLC. It is important to note that any negative input data received is capped at a low output of 4 mA.

The IC693ALG391 offers a specific output resolution where a count of 0 corresponds to 4 mA and a count of 32000 corresponds to 20 mA, translating to 0.5 mA increments for every 1000 counts. The module enters a default state of 0/4 mA or can hold the last state when the CPU is in STOP or RESET mode, configurable via the DEF0/4 jumper on the terminal board connector.

This module serves as a current source, providing an output voltage at VOUTx that corresponds directly to the current output. The voltage range is determined by the current output layout and can incorporate a 250-ohm resistor. The primary power source for the IC693ALG391 is isolated +24 VDC provided by the PLC, with two I/O terminal board connections available for user-supplied voltage, ensuring the outputs retain their state during power interruptions when the Hold-Last-State option is selected. Should the supplied voltage exceed the isolated +24 VDC range of 21.5 to 26.5 volts, the user supply will take precedence. Additionally, within the module, an internal voltage source is generated to power the current loop outputs, which utilize source-type drivers.

For optimal performance, it is recommended that all field wiring connected to the module employs high-quality twisted, shielded cables routed to a common ground (GND) to mitigate noise and loading effects. Up to three Analog Current Output modules can be configured from a shared power supply if user-supplied voltages are not employed.

The IC693ALG391 operates smoothly within a supply voltage range of 20 to 30 VDC, is factory calibrated to 4 µA per count, features an update rate of 5 ms for both channels, and supports a maximum output load of 5 mA. Power consumption requirements include 30 mA from the +5 V bus and up to 215 mA from the +24 V backplane or user supply.
