Description

Part Number: IC200MDD851

The IC200MDD851 is a VersaMax discrete input/output module designed for versatile functionality in automation applications. This module features two groups of eight discrete outputs, providing a total of 16 outputs. Each group's inputs can be configured for either positive or negative logic—positive inputs draw current from the input devices while returning on the common, whereas negative logic inputs receive current from the common, returning to the input devices. All input devices connect between the common terminals and the input terminals; for compatibility with TTL devices, a negative logic attachment is recommended.

The outputs of the IC200MDD851 are sourcing, supplying current to the loads from the positive DC supply. The module derives its power from the backplane, with output loads supported by an external power source. Intelligent processing for this module is handled by either the CPU or NIU, utilizing four bits of discrete input data while managing eight bits of discrete output data. LED indicators provide visual feedback for the on/off states of both inputs and outputs; however, it is essential that backplane power is operational for accurate status indication. While output LEDs are dependent on field power, they function independently of load conditions. A green power LED illuminates when field power is applied, facilitating the identification of any power disruptions within the module.

Prior to installation, it is crucial to carefully inspect the IC200MDD851 for any damage, as integrating a damaged module can adversely affect overall performance. Additionally, when wiring outputs to inductive loads, external circuit suppression is recommended to prevent potential issues. Improper hot insertion can disrupt or damage the operation of other modules on the backplane, highlighting the importance of adherence to installation guidelines.
