The GE Fanuc IC200ALG630 is a 16-bit thermocouple analog input module designed to accept up to seven independent thermocouple or millivolt inputs. Uniquely powered by the backplane power supply, this module eliminates the need for an external power source, enhancing its ease of integration. Each channel of the IC200ALG630 can be configured to provide readings in millivolts, thermocouple inputs, or linearized temperatures in tenths of degrees. The module features LED indicators to display operational status and detect errors, which are logged in the I/O fault table. At startup, it performs automatic A/D calibration, with periodic recalibration to accommodate variations in temperature. Digital conversion of thermocouple inputs is executed through a binary value system processed by a built-in microprocessor, which assesses whether inputs fall within the acceptable range. The IC200ALG630 communicates with the host system via seven words of analog input data, complemented by an optional seven words of output data. Compatibility extends across various CPU and NIU versions, including the Versamax, Genius, and DeviceNet NIU. Users can set each active channel to either active or inactive status—inactive channels return zero values—but they can also define low and high alarm limits as needed. If alarms are unnecessary, limit settings can be adjusted outside the operating range to maintain an inactive state. The module offers a thermocouple voltage range of 5 VDC nominal and supports types J, K, T, S, and R. With an update rate of 60 ms and a power consumption of 125 mA from the +5V bus, the IC200ALG630 is an efficient solution for industrial automation applications, operating effectively within 0 to 60 degrees Celsius.
