National Instruments PXI-8101

The National Instruments PXI-8101 is a compact 2-slot embedded PXI controller powered by a 2.0 GHz Intel Celeron 575 processor. Designed for use in portable PC-based platforms that support data acquisition, test and measurement, and industrial control applications, this controller features two Hi-Speed USB ports, a Gigabit Ethernet port (10/100/1000BASE-TX), and an integrated 2.5 in. SATA hard drive, providing a minimum storage capacity of 80 GB. The PXI-8101 utilizes state-of-the-art packaging to integrate essential I/O capabilities efficiently within a 3U form factor. It operates with a pre-installed operating system, with flexibility for users to install alternative OS options. Configuration settings can be adjusted using the BIOS setup program, although default settings are generally effective for most applications. The front panel includes an SMB connector for coupling with the PXI backplane trigger line and is equipped with dual LEDs indicating PC status, as well as a reset push button for total controller reset. Additional I/O connectivity is provided through a 24-pin DVI-I video connector, a 9-pin D-SUB RS-232 serial port, an RJ45 Ethernet port, a 36-pin Champ IEEE 1284 parallel port, and a stacked USB 4-pin Series A receptacle. The PXI-8101 utilizes the NI-DAQmx driver software, ensuring compatibility with various software environments, including LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, and Microsoft Visual Studio. With a weight of 1.42 lb. and dimensions of 1.59 x 5.14 x 8.51 in., this model is an integral part of any PXI system. While the PXI-8101 has been declared obsolete, it remains available for purchase and servicing through Apex Waves.
