The National Instruments PXI-6683H Synchronization Module is designed to provide precise timing and synchronization for industrial automation and control applications. This advanced module features an integrated GPS receiver that captures radio frequency signals (1.575 GHz) from a network of satellites in medium Earth orbit, leveraging these signals to generate a highly accurate pulse per second (PPS). With sub-microsecond synchronization capabilities, the PXI-6683H enables robust timing solutions critical for real-time systems.

In addition to GPS synchronization, the module supports the IRIG-B standard, which facilitates the transmission of precise timing data among instruments. The IRIG-B implementation transmits 100 bits of timing information per second, allowing connected devices to align their time bases accurately. The device is configured to use the PPS signal for synchronization, and any PFI, PXI_Trigger, or PXI_Star line can be designated as the PPS input terminal.

Engineered for seamless integration, the PXI-6683H occupies a single 3U CompactPCI, PXI, or PXI Express hybrid slot. The front panel is equipped with five SMB male connectors and a standard RJ-45 Ethernet connector, complemented by LED status indicators for GPS, IEEE 1588, and Ethernet link speed. With a TCXO onboard clock featuring an accuracy of 1 ppm and a nominal frequency of 10 MHz, this module establishes itself as a reliable synchronization solution in demanding environments.
