National Instruments PXI-6651

The National Instruments PXI-6651 is a slave synchronization module specifically designed for integration within a PXI chassis. This highly efficient module provides comprehensive PXI start trigger bus control, making it an economical solution for synchronizing multiple PXI chassis. The PXI-6651 features a 10 MHz reference clock input with a CLKIN frequency range of 1 MHz to 105 MHz, accommodating both sine and square wave signals, and includes two SMB male connectors for trigger line sharing. Designed for installation in a single 3U CompactPCI or PXI slot, the PXI-6651 utilizes its front panel connectors, which include programmable function interface (PFI) connectors and a CLKIN connector, alongside access and active indication LEDs.

Operating primarily in a slave configuration, this module is adept at routing externally generated signals, facilitating the transmission of PXI-based timing signals between multiple chassis. Furthermore, it efficiently generates and routes clock signals across interconnected devices, thereby simplifying the synchronization process for redundant devices within a PXI system. The PXI-6651 supports programming through National Instruments' development environments such as LabVIEW and LabWindows/CVI, as well as third-party applications like Visual C/C++.

User-friendly installation is enhanced by injector/ejector handles, with typical configurations seeing the module installed in slot 2 of a PXI chassis. All resources of the PXI-6651 are automatically allocated upon installation, demonstrating its fully software-configurable nature. The module operates within a temperature range of 0 to 55 °C and a storage temperature range of -20 to 70 °C, with specified random vibration tolerances of 0.3 grms during operation and 2.4 grms when non-operational, across a frequency range of 5 to 500 Hz.
